LETTERS relating to numismatics, addressed, with few exceptions, to Gen. Charles Richard Fox, M.P., Surveyor-General of Ordnance, and afterwards Receiver-General of the Duchy of Lancaster; 1837-1870, and undated. Fr. and Engl. The majority of the letters are from [Honoré Théodoric Paul Joseph] D'Albert, [Duc] de Luynes, and W[illiam] H[enry] Waddington, French statesman. A portion of the correspondence refers to the engraving of
plates for C. R. Fox's Engravings of unpublished or rare Greek coins, Part I (1856), carried out 'by L. Dardel, at Paris, under the superintendence of the Due de Luynes. At the beginning are letter: (a) from [Étienne] Chamillart [1656-1730], Jesuit, to -, n.d. Fr. f. 1 ;- - (b) from Abbé [Jean Jacques] Barthélemy to [Jean Denis] Barbier du Boccage, [sic, for Barbié du Bocage], 1788 (?). Fr. f. 2. Paper ; ff. 158. Folio. Presented to the Museum as part of a larger donation by Mrs. Frederick Adam. Transferred from the Department of Coins and Medals.
