Mostly autograph. Mostly collected by Alexander Joseph Finberg (b. 1866, d. 1939). Many of the letters are printed in his Life of
J. M. W. Turner, R.A., Oxford, 1939, all being printed by J. Gage, Collected Correspondence of J. M. W. Turner, Oxford, 1980. Partly also relating to Finberg's An Introduction to Turner's Southern Coast, 1929. A contents list precedes each volume. See B.M.Q., xxii, 1960, pp. 59-62. Belonged to Finberg's widow, Hilda Felicité, neé Ehrmann, who added to the collection, and then to their son, Herbert Patrick Reginald Finberg. 50119, f. 38, was Sotheby sale-cat. 16 Feb. 1926, lot. 444.
