VOCAL MUSIC, mostly for soprano and mezzo-soprano, apparently collected by Amelia Sophia Murray (b. 1780, d. 1849), daughter of John, 4th Duke of Atholl, wife (1809) of James Drummond, 6th (8th) Viscount Strathallan; aft. 1798 (watermark, f. 18). Italian. Except where stated all the items have keyboard accompaniments. (1) Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart:- (a) Duets from 'Così fan tutte':- 'Ah guarda sorella', 'Prenderò quel brunettino', in full score, 'Al fato dan legge' and 'Secondate, aurette amiche'. K.588, nos. 4, 20, 7, 21. ff. 1-8b,
15-27b, 33-36;- (b) Duet from 'La Clemenza di Tito': 'Ah, perdona al primo affetto'. K.621, no. 7. ff. 9-14;- (c) Arias from 'Le Nozze di Figaro':- 'Voi, che sapete', 'Non sò più', 'Deh vieni non tardar' and 'Porgi amor'. K.492, nos. 11, 6, 27, 10. ff. 28-32b, 37-48b. Vocal ornaments added in a different hand, passim.
ff. 1-48;- (2) Arias by Venanzio Rauzzini (ff. 49-58b) with accompaniment for keyboard and treble instrument, Luigi Bologna (ff. 59-60b), Tommaso Traetta
(ff. 62-64), Antonio Boroni, Gioacchino Cocchi and Giacomo Merchi. 'Benedette quelle donne' (ff. 64b-65) by Boroni is headed 'In S. Mose Il Carnovalo 1770' and presumably relates to the revival in Venice of his opera 'Il Carnovalo', 1770. 'Luci vezzose amabile' (ff. 65b-66) by Cocchi is headed 'In S. Benedetto' and presumably relates to a production of his opera 'Zoe' at the Teatro San Benedetto, Venice, 26 Dec. 1755. A version of 'Se vi dicessi ch'io sono amante' (f. 66b) is attributed to Merchi in Add. MS. 31812, f. 158. Also includes 'Quella fonte limpidetta' (ff. 61-61b) and an Andante in F for piano (ff. 63b-64). ff. 49-66b;-
