(f. i) by a note by Dr Cecil Bernard Oldman, C.B., circa 1960. Originally composed for soprano, violins, violoncello, bass and organ, 5 July 1815. The wind parts were added by the composer to a score in the hand of F. L. Schubert, 28 Jan. 1823, now in Lund University Library (Taussig collection), Sweden. Published Vienna, 1825. See also O. E. Deutsch, Franz Schubert Thematisches Verzeichnis seiner Werke, 1978, pp. 146-7 (D 223); the Gesammtausgabe, Leipzig, xiv, 1888, pp. 9-16; Neue Schubert Ausgabe (Schubert Gesellschaft), ser. I, viii. A separate and later viola part (ff. 3-3b), in a different hand, is annotated in pencil, 'den 12 Septb. 1858 b.d. Altchr.(?) Ltrg.(?) [Liturgie?]' (f. 3b) and 'Aus Dr. Schneider's Nachlass' (f. 3). Purchased from Hermann Baron.
