(2) 'Sequitur Speculum peccatorum', beg. 'Utinam saperent et intelligerent... Quoniam in via huius vite fugientis'. Printed in Migne, Patr. Lat., xl, 983, among the spurious works of St Augustine, but attributed also to St Bernard, Aegidius Romanus, Richard Rolle, etc. For other MSS. see Cat. of Royal MSS., i, 1921, p. 205, under 7 F. xi. ff. 12-19b.
(3) 'Sequitur cordiale de quatuor nouissimis tractans', beg. 'Memorare nouissima tua... Sicut dicit Augustinus'. Variously attributed to Gerardus de Vliederhoven, Henricus de Hassia, and Gerson. For early printed editions see Hain, Repertorium, nos. 5691-5718. ff. 19b-71.
Its Carthusian origin is evident from the specific mention of the Order on f. 89. ff. 71-92 b.
(5) 'Sequitur vocatorium ad Christi refectorium.' beg. 'Venite ad me...
Written for Guillielmus Minaudi in 1422, see P. Glorieux in Arch. d'hist. doctrinale et litt. du M.A., xviii, 1950-1951, p. 186. Printed by L. E. Du Pin, J. Gersonii Opera Omnia, Antwerp, 1706, ii, coll. 682-692. ff. 109b-120.
(7) 'Nota secundum Bernardum de excellentia religionis', beg. 'Recordemur, fratres carissimi, quod hoc seculum' (f. 120), followed by another extract from Bernard, beg. 'Fratres bonum est nos hic esse' (f. 120b), and a third from Jerome against delaying of penance, beg. 'Inter centum milia hominum' (f. 120b).
(8) 'Sequitur Tractatus de uanitate seculi', beg. 'Videte quomodo caute anibuletis ... Apostolus Paulus conscius consiliorum dei'. Ascribed to Jacobus Carthusiensis (cf. art. 10 below) in Breslau University MS. I. F. 280 (cf. J. Fijalek, Mistrz Jakób z Paradyza, ii, 1900, p. 329). ff. 120b-129b.
(9) 'Incipit tractatus de Inquisicione hereticorum eiusdem magistri Johiannis Gerson' with special reference to the Waldenses or Pauperes of Lyons; beg. 'Fides catholica fundamentum est omnis boni', ends 'Et sic heretici deinceps crunt securiores ad nocendum ardenciores, etc.' Not in Du Pin's edition of Gerson's works. ff. 133-149.
(10) 'Incipit Colloquium hominis ad animam suam', beg. 'Verbum secretum michi est a te, 0 sponsa'. This and the remaining tracts in the volume are by Jacobus Carthusiensis (cf. Fijatek, op. cit., ii, p. 278), identified as Jacobus de Iunterbuick al. Jüterbogk in T. Petreius, Bibliotheca Cartusiana, 1609, p. 151, but by Fijalek, op.- cit., ii, pp. 134-163, as Jacobus de Paradiso al. de Clusa. Both were inmates of the Carthusian house at Erfurt. ff. 149- 165b.
(11) 'Incipit Igniculus deuocionis', beg. 'Dormitauit anima mea... Intimari in (? sic for 'Intranti mihi) ortulum'. The colophon runs: 'Explicit igniculus deuocionis fratris Jacobi Carthusiensis sacre pagine egregii doctoris.' For other MSS. see Fijalek, op. Cit., ii, pp. 277, 278. ff. 165b-186.
(12) 'De septem statibus mundi tractatus bonus', beg. 'Nunc enim principalissima ecclesie membra'. Cf. Fijalek, op. cit., ii, p. 235. ff. 186-203 b.
(13) 'De septem statibus in apocalypsi descriptis', beg. 'Libet praeter ea que dicta sunt speculari (? sic for dicenda sunt speculariter)'; ends 'principalem sibi vendicat nominacionem': the beginning only of the tract of that title printed by E. Brown in his Appendix (pp. 102-112) to 0. Gratius, Fasciculus Rerum Expetendarum et Fugiendarum, published as vol. ii of that work in I690. For other editions see Fijalek, op. cit., ii, p. 172. ff. 204-206b.

For the miraculous host at Wilsnack in Brandenburg see E. Breest, 'Das Wunderblut von Wilsnack (1383-1552)', in Märkische Forschungen, xvi, 1881, pp. 133-301. ff. 206b-210. Paper; ff. ii+216 (of which ff. 130-132, 211-216 are blank). 8 3/8in. x 5 5/8 in. XV cent. (A.D. 1469 from f. 133.) Gatherings of 12 leaves; up to f. 132 numbered at the end (I-XI), and the leaves numbered to the centre of the gathering a 1-l 6; after f. 132 the gatherings are unnumbered but the leaves numbered a 1-h 6. Sec. fol. of text 'qui florem'. Binding of buckskin over beech boards, and remains of metal clasps wrought with the name 'Maria'. The insides of the boards are covered with a set-off from leaves of a liturgical book. Belonged to the Carthusian house of the B.M.V. at Buxheim in Swabia, as appears from the contemporary note on f. 1 b after the list of contents: 'Liber Cartusiensium In Buchshaim prope Memmingen proueniens a confratre nostro domino Hilprando Brandenburg de Bibraco / donato sacerdote / continens Opera prescripta / Oretur pro eo / et pro quibus desiderauit', and from the later note on f. 2: 'Cartusianorum (D in Buxheim'. The MS. is numbered 114 On f. 1, also on a label on the back partly overlaid by another label with the number 292 in red ink.
