'CATALOGUS Librorum MSS. Latinorum in Bibliotheca Cæsarea Viennensi Ex Bibliotheca Gudiana' (so the title on f. 1), a Catalogue, in Latin, of the Latin and Greek MSS. in the Imperial Library at Vienna, compiled by Marquard Gude (Marquardus Gudius), scholar and bookcollector (d. I689). Autograph (see the note on f. 1). A few German works are entered in German. The arrangement under the headings Theology, Law, Medicine, History, Philosophy, and Literature, with separate numeration under each, appears to be that of the librarian Sebastian Tengnagel (d. 1636), and, for the Greek MSS., corresponds in general to the marginal numeration in the catalogue of the Greek MSS. by Lambecius (Commentarii de Bibliotheca Casarea Vindobonensi, iii-viii, I670-I679). Perhaps part of no. 344 in the sale-cat. of Gude's MSS., 1709 the other MS. catalogues are similarly missing from the Gude collection now at Wolfenbüttel, cf. F. Koehler and G. Milchsack, Die Gudischen Handschriften, 1913, p. xvii. On f. i are the old press-marks '9 H. 8' and 'Miscel. I5'.
