4I684. JOURNAL, in French, of Baron Jean Frédéric Maximilien de Waldeck; 14 Oct. 1829-21 Aug. 1837 (it originally extended to 1839, see f. i). On the front cover (now laid down inside the MS.) is inscribed 'Vol. xxiv'. It is mainly concerned with Waldeck's life in Mexico, especially his visit to the ruins at Palenque in 1832 and 1833 (see ff. 86-154). The materials for his published work, Voyage Pittoresque et Archéologique dans la Province d'Yucatan, Paris, 1838, are not included in this volume of the journal (see ff. 193, 198).
