In twenty chapters, with introduction and preface, and twenty-four coloured plans. The introduction, entitled 'De l'utilite des placesfortes', reproduces in substance the opening chapter of Marshal Vauban's treatise on the Attack, as contained in King's MS. 250, ff. 4-6; the preface and chh. i-vii are virtually identical with the first of the four books of an anonymous treatise in King's MS. 260, ff. 5-28 b; chh. viii, x-xiv are from the second book (King's MS. 260, ff. 90-91b, 88-90, 86b-88, 91b-96b). The first five plates of the present MS. (ff. 71-75) are almost identical with the first five plates in King's MS. 260 (ff. 31-35), and there is close resemblance between some of the others (e.g. ff. 81, 82, 86, should be compared with King's MS. 260, ff. 111, 112, 115). Paper; ff. 94. Folio. 15.1/8 in. x 9¾ in. A.D. 1729. Sprinkled calf binding (rebacked), with book-stamp of the library of the Corps of Royal Engineers (cf. also f. 1).
