Above this heading another hand has written 'Coeulloir fait et renouuelle ou mois de decembre lan mil iiijc iiijxx et. . .'. ff. 2-13b;-(2) 'Coeulloir des rentes et reuenues appartenant a Jehan de aincourt chevalier seigneur dudit lieu a cause de la terre et seigneurie de aincourt fait et renouuelle le xxvj jour du mois de septembre lan mil iiijc iiijxx et Six', etc. ff. 14-37. Part of the MS. (ff. 1, 18, 27-37) is palimpsest, the earlier writing consisting of a 14th cent. register of rents in Amiens and the neighbourhood. Vellum: ff. i + 39. I0.3/8 in. x 7½ in. A.D. 1486. Gatherings irregular. On f. 37b is a descent of the family of De Buissy, seigneurs de Villers-Brouslin, who came into possession of Incourt by marriage in 1548 with the heiress, Jeanne d'lncourt, Dame d'Incourt. This descent is preceded by a note of the birth of Jehan de Buissy, 29 Aug. 1602, and of the ensuing death of the mother, Marie du Bus, and child. Medical remedies and charms in French (circ. 1600) for various troubles, including fever (with abracadabra triangular diagram), ulcers, toothache, occur on ff. 36, 38b; also (f. 36) a charm 'Pour arrestere mouches a miel quant ilz chament [i.e. essaiment]', and (f. 38b) a recipe for 'Eaue de Rubempre'. Inside the front board is the name Franchois de Buissy (16th cent.). Binding, probably of the 14th cent., of pink leather over beech boards, blind-stamped with tools, some of which are copied from Romanesque bindings of the 12th and 13th centt.Sotheby'ssale-cat.,30 June-2 July 1930, lot 145.
