JOURNAL of John James Gaghran (b. 11 Nov. 1792), Assistant Surgeon on board H.M.S. 'Perseus', during her voyage from England to the Barbary States and back; 24 Apr. 1813-17 Feb. 1814. Her mission was to convey William A' Court, 1st Baron Heytesbury 1828, as Envoy Extraordinary to these States. The Captain of the 'Perseus' was his brother, Edward Henry A' Court, afterw. Vice-Admiral. Occasionally the writer was present at official receptions. Paper; ff. 86. 8 in. x 6½ in. A.D. 1813-1814.
