This manuscript contains the Satires (Satires) by the Roman poet Decimus Junius Juvenal (b. c. 50, d. after 127), together with marginal and interlinear glosses.
Contents:
ff. 1v-125r: Juvenal, Satires, with interlinear and marginal scholia, preceded by a biographical prologue beginning ‘Iunius Iuvenalis, libertini locupletis incertum filius’ (ff. 1r-1v).
[f. 125v is blank].
Decoration:
Two large initials with some penwork decoration in brown ink (ff. 57r, 118v). 1 small initial in red (f. 1v). Several small initials in brown ink. Highlighting in red (f. 1v). Capitals in brown ink.

Dimensions: 170 x 140 mm (text space: 120 x 95 mm).
Foliation: ff. 125 ( + 4 unfoliated paper flyleaves at the beginning + 3 at the end).
Script: Caroline minuscule.
Binding: British Museum/British Library in-house. Rebound in 1972. A fragment of the old spine inscribed in gold with ‘JUVENALII SATIRAE M’ is pasted on the inside cover.

Provenance:
An unknown 17th-century owner: his or her note on paper in a 17th-century hand pasted on a flyleaf f. [i] recto.
Charles Motteley (b. 1778, d. 1850), bibliophile and Paris bookseller: ? his mark of ownership on f. 1r; purchased from him by Thomas Rodd.
Thomas Rodd the Younger (b. 1796, d. 1849), London bookseller: bought from him by the British Museum with six other manuscripts for £112 on 8 November 1845.
