"CE SONT les Remonstrances que font Monseigneur [Pierre II., Duc de Bourbon] et Madame [Anne, daughter of Louis Xl. of France, his wife], à cause delle, par devant Messrs. l'Evesque d'Alby [Louts d'Amboise], maistres Thibault Baillet, Jehan de Gaunay, présidens en la court de Parlement [and others], commissaires ordonnéz liar le Roy [Louis Xll.] pour oyr les dictes remonstrances," etc., representing the claims of the Duke and Duchess of Bourbon, by right of inheritance, to the property of Charles VIII., her brother, lately deceased [in 1498], including the county of Provence, bequeathed by Charles of Anjou, King of Sicily, to Louis Xl. of France, and 40,000 livres of rent, assigned by Louis Xl. as the dowry of the Duchess, on her marriage with Nicholas, Duke of Calabria, her first husband, etc. Copies of documents in support of the claims of the petitioners are annexed. At the end are :-a List of documents in the Chambre des comptes à Paris, the production of which is demanded by the Duke and Duchess, f. 115 ;-A copy of attestations delivered to the King's Advocate, of the bequest of the county of Provence, by Charles of Anjou to Louis XI., 13 Apr. 1499, f. 116 ;-and a copy of the sentence of the Commissioners, f. 117.
