"THE ARMS of the Judges and Advocates of Doctors' Commons, 1762." A series of sixty-nine coats of arms of members of the College, with dates of admission, the earliest in 1635, the latest in 1763, including also J. Godolphin, marked "not admitted." Followed (f. 21 b) by "the names of the doctors who agreed to pay 6s. 8d. annually to Doctors' Commons," a list of 708 names, with columns showing dates of admission to the College, and of admission as advocates in the Court. of Arches. The list begins with "Ricardus Bludwell, LL.D., hujus collegii presidens," but of the first 108 names only twelve have dates appended, and these range between 1504 and 1516. The regularly dated entries begin 4 Jan. 1511 and end 3 Nov. 1763. The honorary members who are not advocates are chiefly dignitaries of the church. Gul. Grocyn occurs among the undated names, and Tho. Morus under 1514. An imperfect list of the arms in the volume is on f. 30. The register is printed, omitting hon. members and the earlier undated entries, in Sketches of eminent English Civilians, Lond. 1804. Paper; ff. 30. XVIIIth cent. Bookplate of arms of Sir Walter Wyndham Burrell [5th Bart., ob. 1886]. Folio.
