CORRESPONDENCE, political and private, of Sir Richard Browne, Resident at Paris (1641-1660) on behalf of Charles I. and Charles II.; 1621-1683. Consisting mainly of letters from Browne (originals and autograph copies) to John Evelyn, to his daughter Mary, who married Evelyn in 1647, to Sir George Radeliffe, and others, whose names are given in the index; with some correspondence (ff. 198-219) relative to his proposed appointment, in 1660-1, as Warden of Merton College, Oxford. Many of the letters to Evelyn are signed "Q[uem] N [osti]" (see ff. 74, 78, etc.), and some of them are addressed to "Mr. John Grefton" or to "Mr. John Richardson" (ff. 31 b, 57, etc.). At the beginning (ff. 1-8) are some letters from Browne at Oxford to his father, in Latin, 1621-1628. The main series begins (f. 11) in 1647. Paper; ff. 230. Folio.
