GARDEN-KALENDAR of Gilbert White for the years 1751-1767. These are the earlier volumes of the same series used by Aikin in printing the Naturalist's Calendar (1795), which he extracted from the journals of 1768-1793 (Add. MSS. 31,846-31,851). The bulk of the Kalendar is a diary of operations in the garden at Selborne, especially on growing melons and cucumbers, but there are also notes on the weather and materials for the Naturalist's Kalendar, especially in the latter part of the 1765 diary. Autograph, except a few passages which are marked as in the hand of [Gilbert's brothers] Thomas White (f. 19) or John White, junior (f. 22). Paper; ff. 221. Quarto.
