TERRIER AND RENTAL of the Manor of Fleet, co. Line., held as of the Honour of Lancaster by, Thomas de Multon [Baron Multon de Egremont], of Egremont, co. Cumb., and Moulton, co. Linc. The Terrier is dated 9 Edw. II. [1315-6], the Rental (f. 59) 10 Edw. II. The lands are distinguished as "freeland," "moleland" and "werkland," and the situations and services fully set out. There is also included (f. 39 b) a chartulary for these and other lands, including, inter alia, (a) "Allocacio Libertatum" by an eyre of 9 Edw. I. [1280-1] to Thomas fil. Lamberti de Multon in his lands in the Parts of Holland, co. Linc. f. 40;-(b) Confirmation by Hen. III. to Spalding Priory of freedom from forest dues, etc., 24 Jan. [l226]. f. 42 b;-(c) Accompts of Thomas de Multon, "nepos et heres Thome fil. Lamberti de Multon," for the lands in cos. Linc. and Cumb. to which he succeeded 29 Oct. 1294, before his minority was ended. If this Thomas is Lord Multon, the genealogy must be as stated in Baker's Northampton, i. p. 673, and not as in G. E. C.'s Peerage. f. 44;-(d) Accompts of the same for dower of Margaret, widow of the above Thomas son of Lambert, in the manors of Fleet Moulton and "Bensolace," co. 1295. f. 44 b;-(e) Charters, etc., relating to the hospital at Skirbech, co. Linc., founded by Sir Thomas de Multon (see Dict. Nat. Biog.) in 1229. ff. 49, 56;-(f) Fine of the manor of Holbeach, co. Linc., between William Mandeville, Earl of Essex, and Thomas de Multon, [1220]. f. 50;-(g) Charters of Richard de Lucy, of Egremont, Thomas fil. Cospatricii and others respecting the lands in Cumberland of Lord Multon, including a grant by the former of franchises, etc., to the burgesses of Egremont [ante 1214]. f. 51 b. Vellum; ff. 74. About A.D. 1320 (an earlier fragment relating to fisheries is attached to f. 74). Belonged to Maurice Johnson (cf. 35,168 and sale-cat. 1898, lot 968).
