LEGAL COLLECTIONS, etc., in Latin: a compilation (perhaps made in Cheshire, v. art. 11, etc.), of which a large part (artt. 10, 1, 6, 2-5) is closely akin to Harley MS. 746. Some account of the MS. relations of these articles will be found in the works of F. Liebermann cited. Artt. 4, 5 form part of the collection called "Tripartita," but in that place are joined with the other edition of art. 1 . i. "Incipit lex gloriosi Anglorum regis Ædwardi": the Leges Edwardi Confessoris in their earlier form, beg. "Post quartum annum adquisicionis" (v. Liebermann, Ueber die Leges E. C., Halle, 1896). f 4.
2. "Incipit lex que Angli[c]e Danelage est uocata, latine uero lex Dacorum est interpretata," etc.: the Instituta Cnuti aliorumque Regum Anglorum, beg. "Hec est institucio quam Chnutus rex" (v. Liebermann in Trans. Royal Hist. Soc., N. S. vii. p. 77, and Gesetze der Angel-Sachsen, i. p. 59). f. 9.

5. "Descripcio Genealogie Ducum Normannorum a Rollone," beg. Primus Normannie dux Rollo qui et Robertus," etc., down to John (printed by Liebermann, Ueber die Leges E. C., p. 134). f. 17.
6. "De longitudine et latitudine Anglie," beg. "Anglia habet in longitudine dccc miliaria," etc.: on the civil, ecclesiastical and legal divisions of England (v. Liebermann, Ueber die Leges Angliae Londoniis Collectae, p. 7, note). f. 19.
7. "Incipit Practica Equorum" (the colophon gives "Cyru[r]gia de Curis Equorum," and a later hand inserts the title "Liber de Surgere dez Chiualxz"): a tract on veterinary medicine. Includes mention of a vice "retrogradacio quod in uulgari Gallico restiuacio, in Lombardo reop dicitur," and references to "magister E" and "B de Marsilia." Beg. "Forma uirtus color in equis de iure notantur," and ends "fleobotomabis eum de vena colli et erit liberatus." f. 20 b.
8. "Incipiunt breuia de iustic[ia] et de Iudiciis": a Registrum Brevium made out in the name of Hen. III. and with dates extending to 39 Hen. III. [1253-4]. Begins with writs "De atthachiacione," "De ponendo per vadia," "Propter libertatem non owittere," etc., and ends with "De die warantizato." f. 31.
9. "Hic incipiunt casus et iudicia": select pleas, 36-39 Hen. III. (one at the end is 40 Hen. III.). The references in this, as in the preceding article, are to the county and first word of the enrolment, e.g. "Suff. Robertus," "Oxon. Job. fil. Thome." f. 36.
10. "Incipit tractatus de legibus et consuetudinibus regni Anglie tempore Regis H[enrici] secundi compositus iusticie gubernacula tenente illustrissimo Ranulfo de Glanuilla," etc., beg. (after the table of capitula) "Regiam potestatem non solum armis": the treatise known by the name of Glanville (Chief Justiciar, 1180- 1190). Contains at the end three paragraphs, beg. "Predicta uero placita siue alia qualiter uel quo iure" (purporting to be by the same author as the rest of the work), which are not in the ordinary MSS. or in Rayner's edition. f. 39 b.
