WARDROBE RECEIPT-BOOK of 8-10 Edw. III. [1334-133 6/7], being the accompt of Richard de Feriby, who succeeded Robert de Tauton as Keeper of the Wardrobe, 31 July, 1334. The latter Part of the MS., however, contains more information respecting Tauton's tenure of office than Feriby's. (The corresponding comptroller's account is in Cotton MS. Nero C. v.) In Latin. It comprises:-
(1) "Recepta denariorum de Seaccario," viz.:-Mich. anno viii., tempore mag. Rob. de Ayleston. [Archidiaconi Berk. et] Thesaurarii," Pasch. viii., "tempore domini R[icardi de Bury] Dunelm. episcopi Thesaurarii," and annis ix. x. "tempore domini H[enrici de Burghersh] Lincoln episcopi Thesaurarii." f. 2;-(2) "Recepta Forinseca," moneys received from other sources. f. 4 b;-(3) "Jocalia, Vessellamenta et alia remanencia in garderoba xxix. die Sept. anno vi. in custodia Roberti de Tauton, tunc custodis eiusdem garderobe," accounting for all changes (by gifts, etc., including the Twelfth-night present to the Rex Fabae) in the inventory to the date of Feriby's succession. f 6;-(4) "Prestita facta diuersis per Rob. de Tauton, nuper custodem Garderobe R. Edw. tercii." f 10;-(5) "Debita infrascripta debentur personis subscriptis in fine compoti Roberti de Tauton nuper custodis," etc.; with notes added of the debts cancelled, chiefly anno xi.
