STATUTES AND NECROLOGY of the English Congregation of Benedictine Monks, in Latin. A volume compiled by Dom Benedict Simpson.
1. Constitutions of the English Congregation enacted by a committee of six, appointed by the General Chapter at Douay on 12 Aug. 1661. See another copy in Harl. MS. 575. The committee's subscription occurs at f. 97, after which follow (f. 97 b) a formulary (with subscription of a slightly different committee) and index. On f. 110 is a note in English [by Dom Benedict Simpson ?] on the actual compilers and the sources of these statutes. f. 1.
2. "Necrologium Congregationis Anglo-Benedictinae pertinems ad me D. Benedictum Simpson, O.S.B., anno domini 1768-9": a list of the English Benedictines (17th and 18th centt.) commemorated on each day of the year, with the, place and date of their death. f. 111. Paper; ff. 148. A.D. 1769. Belonged to the English Benedictines of the "Hospitium Abbatiale" of S. Gregorio in Trastevere at Rome; afterwards to Frederick North, 5th Earl of Guilford (sale-cat. 1830, lot 138), Sir T. Phillilpps (MS. 7247, sale-cat. 1895, lot 77), and H. B. Weaver (sale-cat. 1898, lot 39).
