TRANSCRIPTS of papers in the Florentine archives relating to a proposed marriage between Henry Frederick, Prince of Wales (d. 6 Nov. 1612), and a sister of Cosimo II, Grand Duke of Tuscany, 1611-1612. The chief correspondents are the Florentine representatives and emissaries in England and Rome and members of the Tuscan court. The arrangement is roughly chronological. A number of ecclesiastical pronouncements are in Latin, the rest of the papers in Italian. Different extracts from the same dossier are printed by C. Guasti in Giornale Storico degli Archivi Toscani, i (1857), pp. 56-64, 275-279. Paper; ff. ii + 528. Folio. xix cent. Copied for Frederick North, 5th Earl of Guilford, under the supervision of S. Ciampi (so the account in the Guilford sale-cat., 8 Dec. 1830, lot 414). Phillipps MS. 5705 (sale-cat. 1893, lot 277). Bookplate of arms of Sir Thomas Brooke, Bart., of Armitage Bridge, F.S.A.
