The Transl. of St. Thomas Apostle (3 July) is also in red. The black entries include SS. The decoration consists of five large miniatures, thirtysix smaller miniatures, and five historiated initials, with full or partial borders, poorly executed in Flemish style. The subjects of the large miniatures are: Christ, half-length, with orb, blessing (f. 14), Crucifixion (f. 33 b), Pentecost (f. 41 b), Annunciation (f. 61 b), Visitation (f. 73 b). The smaller miniatures include representations of SS. Gommarus (f. 196), Drogo (f. 196 b), Wilgefortis (f. 205 b) and Godeleva (f. 206). The collation is uncertain owing to tightness of binding (leaves are wanting after ff. 91, 189). French binding of yellow morocco, 18th cent., gilt-tooled. Bookplate of arms of Frederick Perkins, of Chipstead Place, Kent (sale-cat., 13 July 1889, lot 1051)., A cutting from an earlier sale-catalogue is pasted inside the front cover (f. i). Belonged subsequently to the Rev. E. S. Dewick (cf. ff. iv, vi, vii). The notes on ff. viii, ix are in the hand of the Rev. H. M. Bannister. Presented by John Wickham Legg, Esq., F.R.C.P.
