1. Private and business correspondence, 2 Nov. 1584-18 May 1688. The names of the writers are given in the Index. For the Civil War period the papers (ff. 106-284) relate almost exclusively to the sequestration of the estates of Arthur, Lord Capell of Hadham (executed 1649), and include orders of the Committee for Sequestrations, Committee for Compounding, etc. At the end (ff. 311-321) are a few later letters, 1761-1786. f. 1.
