Keys endorsed:-(a) "Cypher between [Robert Spencer, 2nd] Erle of Sunderland [Sec. of State] & M^r Sauile [i.e. Henry Savile, Envoy at Paris 1678-1682] in France & [(erased) S^r W^m Temple in Spaine] 1680." Printed form (with the same contents as art. 10) with figures, etc., in MS., forming a cypher different from the preceding. f. 27 b:-(b) "M Paradini [? Sir Victor Paradini] Mr [Henry] Sav[ile] Cyphers." A MS. copy of the words of artt. 10 and 11 (a), with, however, different numerical values. In the left margin is a list of addresses under which "The B. de W: [?Sir Ignatius White, Bart., Baron de Vicque, English Resident at Brussels] is to write to yo^r. LoP." [? Robert Spencer, 2nd Earl of Sunderland], and under which "your LoP. is to write to B. de W.", [circ. 1679]. f. 29 b.

12. Keys endorsed:-(a) "Cypher 1682 with Marq. d'Albyville, in Holland" [i.e. Sir Ignatius White, Bart., Baron de Vicque, Marquis d'Albeville, English Ambassador to the Hague 1686]. Similar in wording to artt. 10, 11 (a) and ll (b), but with additions, f.31b:-

(b) ? "the marq. d'Albyville at the Hague" (written over the words "Cypher with . . . ." and erased), n. d. f. 33.

13. Cypher, with directions for use, endorsed "french Cypher with L' Preston" [i.e. Sir Richard Graham, 1st Viscount Preston 1681, Envoy Extraordinary to France 1682-1685]. Two double sheets, [circ. 1682]. Fr. f. 34.

14. Key endorsed "Cypher with Mr P- [? Viscount Preston] & S^r W^m T-l" [i.e. Sir William Trumbull, Envoy Extraordinary to France 1685-1686]. An addition to the cypher occurs as an endorsement, with the note "To Mr Skelton Onely these following" [i.e. Captain Bevil Skelton, Envoy at Versailles 1686-1688], [temp.
