1. "JUS APPELLANDI ad Regem ipsum a Cancellaria; or, A manifestacion of the Kings Power to Relieve his subjects against Erroneous and unjust Decrees in Chauncery in the Intervalls of Parliament . . . . by Wa[lter] Williams of ye Midle Temple Esq.": apparently a draft of Part I of the work published in London under this title, Part I, 1683, Parts I and II, 1684. There are a number of alterations (perhaps by the author), several of which are not embodied in the printed text. f. 1.
2. Defence of his conduct, as Secretary of State, in regard to the naval operations of 1692, submitted (pursuant to the orders of
Willam III) by Daniel Finch, 2nd Earl of Nottingham [6th Earl of Winchilsea 1729], to the House of Lords during the inquiry into the causes of the escape of the French fleet after the victory off Cape La Hogue, and the failure of the attack on St. Malo. The defence (which was presented by the Lords to the Commons at a conference of both Houses held 20 Dec. 1692) is in the form of a narrative ending at 2 Aug., and consists chiefly of an abstract of Nottingham's correspondence with "Mr. Russell" [i.e. Edward Russell, Earl of Orford 1697, Admiral of the Fleet 1692], upon whom an attempt is made to lay the blame. Printed, Journals of the House of Commons, vol. x, p. 749. Copy, late 17th cent. f. 39. Paper; ff. 57. Folio. Late xvii cent. Presented by More Adey, Esq.
