"THE PLOTT of the Mannor of Out Elmstone. together with the Demeasnes, as they lie scituate in the Parish of Barham, in the countie of Kent. taken by Surueigh & measure the 14th day of Februarie Anno Domini. 1616[71. By me Iohn Iohnson"; a map in colours. Out Elmstone, which may be identified with Out Elmsted, about half a mile north of Barham, was also known as Outelmeston or Diggs-court; cf. E. Hasted, History of Kent, iii, pp. 755-56. Vellum roll. 3 ft. 5 in. x 1 ft. 5.3/4 in. A.D. 1617. Acquired with Add. MSS. 40696-40717 ; it probably came into the possession of the Oxenden family through Sir Basil Dixwell, 2nd Bart. of Brome; cf. Add. MS. 40717, art. i, and Hasted, loc. cit.
