HOLME HALL PAPERS, supplementary to Add. MSS. 40132- 40137 acquired in 1921 (see above, p. 38).

1. Rental of the manor of Holme-on-Spalding-Moor, with Bubwith, etc., co. York; 1 Mar. 1579 (see f . 8). The tenants-at-will (f. 1) and freeholders (f. 12 b) of Holme-on-Spalding-Moor are given separately, the arrangement otherwise being territorial. Notes of bonds for fines entered into with Sebastian Gabriell, William Lambard, the bailiff, etc., by most of the tenants-at-will with leases of eight years and under, and also of later payments by them, have been made in the margin, at various times, in a different hand, during the years immediately following the date of the rental. The rents and fines of tenants-at-will with leases of eight years and upwards have been listed on f. 17, and an accompt of Sebastian Gabriell's indebtedness to the lord of the manor, in connection with the above-mentioned bonds, 18 Jan. 158 is given on f . 19. On f . 18 is a list of covenants, presumably intended for insertion in leases. An earlier 16th cent. rental of Holme-on-Spalding-Moor is in Add.MS. 40136, f. 1. f. 1.
