MISSAL of Lyons use. The text is in substantial agreement with that of Missale ad vsum Lugdunensis ecclesie, 1510 (the earliest printed missal of this diocese in the British Museum); it also reproduces some of the peculiarities of the rite described by Dom Buenner in Compte-Rendu of the Sixth National Eucharistic Congress, Lyons, July 1927, pp. 76-109, such as (a) the inclusion in the Ordinary (f. 127 b) of the ancient "Oratio ante altare: Deus qui non mortem" (Buenner, p. 93), and (b) the insertion (ff. 12, 138 b, 168 b) in the Agnus Dei of the antiphon "Ad Eucharistiam: Venite populi" (Chevalier, Repert. Hymnol., 21307) on high festivals, here, as in the printed missal (f. ix b), set out at length on Christmas Day (Buenner, p. 106). Contents:-

Vellum; ff. i + 272. 10.3/4 in. x 7.1/4 in. Early xv cent. Gatherings of 8 leaves (i wants 1, 2; xvii^6, 1 cancelled; xviii^6; last wants 8), with catchwords. Contemporary foliation in red, omitting the number 'Ciiij^xx vj,' and leaving the quire containing the Prefaces (ff. 132-137) unnumbered. Coarse illuminated initials, some, with partial borders (ff. 11, 31, 91, 129, 138, 145, 162, 167 b, 175 b, 220, 223, 235, 246) ; other initials in red and blue, with pen-work.
