BILLS for expenses of prisoners in the Gatehouse at Westminster, rendered quarterly to the Privy Council by successive Keepers of the prison, and signed by members of the Council; 29 Sept. 1596-24 June 1606, with gaps. The Keepers for the period are Morrys Pykeryng, Hugh Parlor, William Okey, Anne Okey, his widow, with her son, Thomas Harlowe. The identity of "Christopher Marlowe als Mathews, a Seminary preist" on f. 29 b is the subject of letters from Sir Israel Gollancz and J. B. Whitmore in The Times, 23 June, 24, 27 July 1925.
