LIVES, etc., of the Medici, in Italian, extracted from the "Storia della nobile e reale casà de' Medici" attributed to Luca Ombrosi, viz.:-(1) "Memorie e Successioni di Casa Medici": a summary chronicle of the family. f. 2;-(2) "Vite de' Sereiiissimi Granduchi e Principi della Real Casa de' Medici," from Ferdinand I, 3rd Grand Duke, to John Gaston, 7th and last of the line (d. 1737). f. 31. The Lives of the first two Grand Dukes were contained in a previous volume, according to the preface on f. 31. From Ferdinand II onwards (f. 37) the Lives have been published in nos. 1-3 of the Bibliotechina Grassoccia, 1886, 1887, by Orlando and Baccini, using MS. 352 in the Moreni Library at Florence. A translation by Harold Acton of the Life of John Gaston appeared in 1930 with the title, The Last of the Medici. Paper; ff. ii + 127. Octavo. Mid xviii cent. On the back of the cover was a circular label with the number 189, covering another with the number 85. Both have now been pasted on the fly-leaf (f. ii). Presented by George Francis Hill, Esq., afterwards Sir George Hill, K.C.B.
