On vellum, written at the close of the xiiith or beginning of the xivth century. The calendar is ornamented with drawings cleverly executed in tinted outline; and between ff. 13-24 is a series of twenty-three outline miniatures, slightly tinted, of larger size, representing events of the Old and New Testaments. In the text are also introduced some miniatures of a higher finish. This volume originally belonged to the Abbey of Lire, in Normandy, and in the calendar are entered obits of many of the Abbots, and of the benefactors of that monastery. Among the latter are included the names of the early Earls and Countesses of Leicester. Folio.

A Hymnal of the Abbey of Lire, in Normandy, accompanied throughout by square or diamond-shaped notes, on two staves of 4 or 5 red lines with the C, CB, or F signatures, containing, among other hymns, the following set for 2 voices, in quasi-score: — ‘Conditor alme syderum‘ (f. 166); ‘Veni, creator spiritus‘ (f. 188b); and ‘Ave, maris stella’ (f. 192). `
