Articles of agreement between Philip IV, King of Spain, and Charles, Prince of Wales, for the projected Marriage of the Prince with Maria, Infanta of Spain, dated Madrid, 4 Aug 1623, with ratification 7 Sep 1623. In Latin. Both the articles and the ratification carry the signatures and seals of the King and the Prince, and the signatures of their secretaries, Juan de Çiriça and Simon Digby.
f.[i] has pasted in notes in French by a previous 19th-century owner, Alcide Donnadieu.

Dimensions: 310mm x 215 mm (writing area: 260mm x 170mm).
Foliation: ff. [i] + 8 (f. [i] is a flyleaf with a note by a previous owner pasted on; there is a further flyleaf at the back).
Script: Early 17th-century secretary hand.
Binding: Post-1600.
Red leather; gilt tooling outside and inside of both front and back covers, gilt-stamped 19th-century royal coat of arms on front cover; watered blue velvet panels on inside of front and back covers. (This seems to the binding in which the document came to the British Library; Catalogue ... of m. Donnadieu, p. 27, described the document as 'in beautiful preservation, enclosed in a handsome crimson morocco case, watered silk lining').
