PORTOLANO, consisting of six coloured charts of the coasts of Europe, with the British Isles, the Mediterranean and Archipelago, and north coast of Africa to Cape Bojador on the west. Ital. At the beginning of the volume is a lunar table, and a calculation of Easter day from the year 1384 to 1434. At the end is inserted, by a recent hand, a description of the charts, and a reduction of an ancient map on wood in the Bibliothèque Impériale at Paris. [In a printed notice of this Portolano, M. D'Avezac assigns to the lunar table the date 1458, and to the table for finding Easter Day the date 1384. He attributes the four first charts to the earlier of these dates, and the two last, evidently written by another hand, to the year 1434. See "Fragments d'une Notice sur un Atlas Manuscrit Vénitien de la Bibliothèque Walckenaer;" Paris, 1847, 8o. ] Vellum; executed by Venetians in the years 1384-1458. Quarto. [Add. 19,510.]
