OFFICIAL papers relating to the Army, 1698-1724; consisting of lists of forces at home and abroad, 1702-1714, and statements of arrears of pay, estimates, and other military statistics drawn up in 1711-1714. These papers are preceded by two printed lists of forcers in 1698, 1699 (ff. 5, 6); and in the body of the volume are inserted four papers of a later date, viz.: An account of military expenses for 1715, f. 263; warrants of George I. for subsidies to foreign sovereigns; 2 Jan. 1717/8 and 19 Nov. 1719, ff. 178, 180; and an original receipt from Colonel John Arnott for money to be paid to British prisoners in France, taken at the battle of Almanza; 29 Oct. 1724, f. 177. Included are original letters from 1. Colonel James Jones to [Robert Harley, lst Earl of Oxford, Lord Treasurer] on the death of Colonel Parkes at Antigua; London, 30 June, 1711, f. 161.
