ORIGINAL PAPERS relating to the Company of the Mines Royal in Jamaica, originated by William Wood, afterwards notorious as the patentee of Wood's Halfpence; 1726, 1727. Among the contents, which are chiefly memoranda, proposals, accounts, receipts, etc., are the following original papers and letters, etc.: 1. Scheme for remodelling the affairs of the Company, by William Wood, the manager, f. 3.
2. Proposals of Dr. Henry Barham, F.R.S., and a draft of the terms to be offered him, as "Essay Master or Mineral Master-General," etc., ff. 18, 20.
3. Letters from William Wood, Manager of the Company, to Charles Long, of Longville, Jamaica, and Hurts Hall, co. Suffolk, M.P. for Dunwich (d. 1723); 24 Aug. 1720-30 Mar. 1722, ff. 30-147, passim; Jane, Lady Modyford, relict of Sir Thos. Modyford, Bart., and 2nd wife of Charles Long; 10 Mar.
