(1) Short accounts of Venetian noble families arranged in alphabetical order, accompanied by painted coats of arms. Italian. ff. 1-64.
(2) Miscellaneous material in Latin and (mostly) Italian relating to the history and government of Venice, 5th-15th centt., including lists of families who participated in notable episodes in Venetian history, extracts from chronicles, decrees of the Council, etc., and (f. 64*) a copy of the account of the foundation of Venice (beg. 'ANNO A nativitate Christi. 42 1. ultimo anno Pape Innocentii Primi regno Patavinensium feliciter'), printed by Giovanni Benedetto Mittarelli, Bibliotheca codicum manuscriptorum Monasterii S. Michaelis Venetiarum prope Murianum, Venice, 1779, col. 1188, from MS.

(3) Anonymous chronicle of Venice (in short chapters), 687-1556, beg. 'Come fú eletto Primo Dose M. Poluzo Anafesto in Racliana', ends 'mà a detta elettione de Doge se ritrovò esser Consegliere'. ff. 74b-329.
(4) List of Doges after 1556, ending 'franco da Molin. xx Zenr . 1645-'(Francesco Molino, Doge 1645-1655). f. 329. Paper; ff. iv +329. Folio. Circ. 1645-1655 (see art. 4). Written in a single Italian cursive hand throughout, without corrections or alterations but with occasional marginal notes by the same scribe in an italic hand. Watermark, three crescents diminishing in size. Belonged, 19th cent.-1921, to the Venables-Vernon family, Lords Vernon (bookplate, f. iii; Sotheby's sale-cat.
19-21 Oct. 192 1, lot 562, where it is described as bound in old boards). Afterwards belonged to Sir George Francis Hill (bookplate of him and his wife, Mary, f. iv), Director of the British Museum (1931-1936), numismatist and historian of Cyprus (d. 1948); one ('Armorial C') of four Venetian armorials (the other three are Add. MSS. 46805-46807) owned by him, and the arms of the present MS. are included in the index to the armorials compiled by him and now Add. MS. 46808. Further MSS. relating to Italian coats of arms compiled by him are Add. MSS. 46809-46821. Presented by Sir George Francis Hill, K.C.B., F.B.A.
