Miscellaneous Official and Private Papers of the Rollo family, Lords Rollo of Duncrub; 1649-1867. The papers consist chiefly of correspondence, etc., of and relating to Brig.-Gen. Andrew Rollo, 5th Lord Rollo 1758, including his correspondence with William Pitt, 1st Earl of Chatham, and others, relating to the capture of Dominica and Martinique, 1761-1762; see Hist. MSS. Comm., 3rd Report, 1872, App., p. 407, where an extract from Pitt's secret instruction to Rollo (ff. 57-59) to attack Martinique (5 Aug. 1761) is printed, and other related correspondence is listed. Other Rollo papers mentioned in the Report are not, however, in the present collection. The papers are arranged chronologically and the names of the writers of letters will be found in the Index to the present Catalogue. Paper; ff. 122. Folio. 1649-1867. Presented by the Hon.
