'THE DOOM OF ENGLISH WILLS': correspondence and papers of William Downing Bruce, F.S.A., relating to his investigation of the custody of wills and other records by the Registrars of Ecclesiastical Courts of Record, and to the publication by Charles Dickens of five articles, based on this investigation, under the above title in Household Words, ii, 1850, pp. 1-205 passim. The material was also used by Bruce himself for articles in Postulates and Data, reprinted as Ecclesiastical Courts of Record, 1854, and How the Ecclesiastical Courts rob the Public, 1856. The papers, of which the original arrangement has been preserved, comprise:-
