Correspondence and papers of Claude César Clément Moreau (b. 1791, d. 1860), F.R.S., etc., French statistician and author, and of members of his family. Mostly French. After serving as French Vice-Consul in London from 1816 to 1829, he founded (1829) the Société Française de Statistique Universelle, of which he was Director-General 1832-1840, and (1830) the Académie de l'Industrie Agricole, Manufacturière et Commerciale, of which he was President. Some of the letters included in the present collection were published by Moreau as 'Pièces Justificatives' to an autobiographical note in the Bulletin de la Société Française de Statistique Universerselle, ii, 1831, pp. 132-139.
