Letters, diaries, accompts, sketchbooks, etc., of William Makepeace Thackeray; 1817-1863, n.d. The letters (together with the majority of the pen drawings illustrating them), and the diaries, have been printed and edited by Gordon N. Ray, The Letters and Private Papers of W. M. Thackeray, 4 vols., 1945-1946. The accompts and other miscellanea in 46895-46905 have not been published except where specifically stated. The collection belonged formerly to, and was acquired from, Mrs Hester Thackeray Fuller, daughter of W. M. Thackeray's eldest daughter, Lady Ritchie. A few, however, of the letters printed by Ray as from Mrs Fuller's collection are no longer with the present series. The names of the writers will be found in the Index to the present Catalogue.
