DEMI-OFFICIAL LETTER-BOOK of the Punjab Irregular Force, subsequently the Punjab Frontier Force; 26 Nov. 1850-22 Nov. 1852. The contents comprise copies of letters from Brigadier (later Major-General) John Studholme Hodgson, as commander, and Walter Robert Prout his Brigade- Major, mainly to officers of the Force, but including twenty to Sir Henry Montgomery Lawrence, President of the Board of Adminstration of the Punjab, one (f. 39b) to Lt.-Col. Robert Cornelis Napier, afterwards 1st Baron Napier of Magdala, one (f. 51b) to the Marquess of Dalhousie, Governor-General, and seven to his secretary F. F. Courtenay, of which one (f. 65b), dated 28 Mar. 1852, has been published in J. S. Hodgson, Opinions on the Indian Army, 1857, Appendix B. Related letters to Hodgson are in Add.
