SERMONS, or notes for sermons, etc., by Thomas Bedford, B.D., of Queens' College, Cambridge; bef. 30 Apr. 1618 (f. 70b)-5 June 1633 (f. 122b). Autograph. English and Latin, with quotations in Greek and Hebrew. Some of the sermons are annotated with the date and place of preaching, e.g. Coventry, n.d. (f. 40b), Tamworth, 1618, 1620, 1621 (ff. 70b, 91b, 100), Adderston (Adderstone, co. Northumb.?), 1618, 1621, 1628-1630 (ff. 75b, 96b, 105b, 109b), Great St Mary's, Cambridge, 1619 (f. 87b). The sermon at ff. 115b-122 preached at St Paul's Cross, 26 August 1621, was printed in expanded form as The Sinne Unto Death, 1621. The sermons are preceded by miscellaneous notes (f. 1) and a prayer (ff. lb-2b) mentioning 'the M[aste]r the fellowes & all the students of Q[ueens'] in C[ambridge]', and followed by a 'Precatio ante Concionem ad Clerum habitam', 5 June 1633 (f. 122b). Paper; ff. 122 (f. 2* stub). Octavo. Bef. 1618-1633. Contemporary brown leather binding with gold tooling. Presented by Major Frank Chandler.
