SURVEY AND RENTAL of the former secular College of Wye, co. Kent (founded 1432, surrendered 1545); circ. 1553. The survey (ff. 2-4b), in English, is dated 23 Oct. 1553, the property being then in the hands of Sir Mauris Denys, who received licence to alienate in the same year (Calendar of Patent Rolls, 1553-1554, p. 363). The rental (ff. 5-7), in Latin, dated October 1544, is copied in the same hand as the survey. Add. MS. 5514, ff. 44-59b, is a copy of the present MS. (antedating damage to the text of the latter by ink corrosion) made for Edward Hasted, the historian of Kent, from which the survey and (in translation) rental were printed, with some omissions, by C. S. Orwin and S. Williams, Wye Church and Wye College, 1913, pp. 181-185, 164-169. See also E. Hasted, History of Kent, iii, 1790, p. 173, note e. Paper; ff. 8. Folio. Circ. 1553.
