Most of the contents is found in a number of other manuscripts, cf. Add. MS. 35848, Stowe MS. 574, Eg. MSS. 3370, 3371, and is substantially published, from a manuscript (circ. 1606) in the Library of the Society of Antiquaries, in Archaeologia, xv, 1806, pp. 53-58, 72-91. See also F. Peck, Desiderata Curiosa, 1779, i, pp. 51-78, who prints similar material from an earlier MS. (temp. Eliz. I). Contents:-
(1) Description of the degrees and precedence of the nobility (ff. 3-6b), list of the peerage (ff. 6b-8), details of powderings (ff. 8-9b) and funeral ceremonies (ff. 9b-12b) appropriate to various ranks. ff. 3-12b.
(2) Lists of offices with fees and occasional names of office-holders, chiefly relating to courts and offices of revenue and judicature (ff. 13-16), offices of state and the Royal Household (ff. 16-22b), castles, fortresses, royal parks, forests, etc. (ff. 22b-29). ff. 13-29.
(3) Tables of ships in the navy (ff. 29-30b), and of general musters (ff. 30b-32), lists of fugitives overseas (ff. 32-33), numbers of churches in every county (f. 33). ff. 29-33. Paper; ff. 34. Folio. After A.D. 1605. List of references, 'T,1,57, 1- T,1,57,8', on f. 1b, to which cross-reference is made at appropriate headings in the text.
