Material: Palm leaves (bai lān), with gilt and lacquered edges
Dimensions: 550 mm x 50 mm
Script: 5 lines per side, 470 mm long. In Khom script, a variant of Khmer script used in central Thailand.
Binding: Bamboo stick, Cotton and Silk
Size: Wrapper, size 62 cm x 78 cm, made of 16 bamboopieces with lacquer on one side that are joined together with white cotton ropethreaded through holes in the bamboo ribs and two layers of fabric sewntogether in white cotton and yellow silk at the hem. This yellow silk is factory-madein India, demonstrating the wealth of the person offering it. Red, yellow, and white stripes on the hem indicate that the fabric was woven in a factory. Inscribed ivory title indicator, 2.2 x 21 x 0.4 cm (in the northern Thai language called"Mai Panjak" or "Mai Panchak Dhamma") inscribed in Khmer script, attached to a long handwoven yellow cord made from silkthreads, 764 cm long. Both ivory and silk reflect the wealth of the person offering it.
"Mai Panjak" is typically made of wood and is wrapped aroundthe outside of the manuscript, often used to inform the reader of the title ortopic of the manuscript contained within that package, facilitating the searchfor the desired scriptures from the manuscript chest.
