'Re registers of Bury St. Edmunds Abbey are listed in G. R. C. Davis, Medieval Cartularies of Great Britain, pp. 13-17. Later additions to the MS are;- (a) Notes describing the obligation of the manors of Somerleyton and Sotterley to the water leet of Beccles, with reference to an item on f. 7 of the original register; late 15th cent. ff. 39, 40;- (b) Items relating to Stanton; 16th cent. ff. 38, 39;- (c) A note in the autograph of Sir Robert Jermyn, who held the property 1577-1614; f. 39;- (d) Extent of the meadows of Stanton made 12 Aug. 1513; 17th cent. copy. f. 39b. Vellum; ff. 40. Folio. XV cent. Gatherings, i-iii12, iv6; catchwords on ff. 13b, 25b, 37b. Presented 16 Dec. 1757 by Edward Capell, the Shakespearian commentator, whose ancestors purchased the property from the Jermyns, to whom it had been given by Henry VIII (f. 1b).
