Thoresby Park Charters and Rolls

From the muniments of Earl Manvers at Thoresby Park, co. Nott., consisting mainly of post-medieval records of the Pierrepont family, Earls (1628) and Dukes (1690) of Kingston-upon-Hull, and relating in particular to their lands in cos. Nott., Derby and York. Included in the present collection, however, are
some medieval records of related families, viz., receivers' accompt-rolls, deeds, household and travelling expenses of the Mortimer family, Earls of March, and of their heir, Richard Plantagenet, 3rd Duke of York; and records of the Beauchamp and De La Pole families, Earls respectively of Warwick and Suffolk. The Hist. MSS. Comm., 9th Report, App., part ii, 1884, notices (pp. 378 -379 ) a few (medieval) charters only, but a typewritten calendar of the deeds and manuscripts (to the year 1800) at Thoresby Park in 1915, by W. A. Caffall, is now Egerton MS. 3660 A-F. Some former Thoresby Park deeds relating chiefly to Beaconsfield, co. Bucks., are now Oxford, Bodleian Library, MSS. Ch. Bucks 882 -1318; Derby 55, 56; Glouc. 168; Kent 433; Northants 49; and Som. 70; see the Bodleian Library Record, ii, 1943, pp. 86-87, and the Bull. of the Institute of Historical Research, xix, 1942 -1943, p. 168. Some estate papers, accompts, manorial records, correspondence, etc., 17th -19th cent., remaining at Thoresby Park after the removal of the material described above, are now deposited at the Nottingham University Library.
