This charter is a confirmation by Baldwin II (r. 1228-1273), also known as Baldwin of Courtenay, the last Latin Emperor of Constantinople, of a grant made by his uncle Philip I (b. 1175, d. 1212), Margrave of Namur, to the Abbey of St. Bavo, Ghent, of the right of his whole patronage in the town of Biervliet; dated Biervliet, May, 1269; affixed with the golden bulla or seal of Baldwin II, tied with a red cord.
Endorsed: 'de p[er]sonatu de Bierevliet' , and in a later hand, 'Litterae Balduini Imp[eratoris] quibus iteras / approbat donationem Phil. March. / Namurcen[sis] factam ecclesiae S[anc]ti Bauo[n]i[s] / de personatu de Biervliet cum suis / pertinentys'.
