CHARTERS and Rolls relating to property of the family of Aston, of Aston Hall in Runcorn, co. Chester, and its connections. Arranged in three groups as follows:-

1. Property in co. Warwick and other midland and southern counties obtained (a) by the marriage of Thomas Aston [d. 1552] with Bridget, sister and co-heir of Thomas Harewell, of Shottery, co. Warw.; and (b) by the acquisition of the lands of Nuneaton Priory, co. Warw., which were granted by Henry VIII. at the dissolution to Sir Marmaduke Constable and passed to the Astons, through the families of Constable, Cave, Knollys, and Willoughby, by the marriage of Sir Thomas Aston, Bart. [d. 1645], with Ann, daughter and co-heir of Sir Henry Willoughby, of Risley, co. Derby, Bart. (cf. Add. MSS. 36901-36927).

2. Property in cos. Chester, Denbigh, and Flint (a) belonging to the Astons from the 12th cent., or acquired by them through marriages with heiresses of the Dutton and Beeston families; and (b) property of the Norris family, of Speke, co. Lane. (see below).

3. Property in co. Lancaster belonging to the family of Norris, connected with the Astons through the marriage (circ. 1695) of Thomas Norris, of Speke, with Magdalen, recond daughter of Sir Willoughby Aston.
