CONTEMPORARY TRANSCRIPT of a grant by Henry III of liberties to the Gilbertine order; 21 April 1252. Latin. See Calendar of Charter Rolls 1226-1257, p. 385. The sewing holes at the top and bottom of the membrane indicate that it originally formed part of a roll. Another membrane which contains contemporary transcripts of grants in 1252 and 1255 by Henry III and was also originally part of a roll is Add. Ch. 76027. It is not clear if these membranes originally belonged to the same roll. The present charter was Phillipps MS. 40132 (part). See Sotheby's sale cat., 13 April 1981, lot 165. Purchased from Alan G. Thomas, April 1981.
