Berengaria of Navarre (b. c. 1165, d. 1230), widowed Queen of England (the widow of Richard I, r. 1189-1199), grants rents and lands to the abbey of L’Épau in Le Mans, France. The Cistercian abbey of L’Épau was founded by Berengaria in 1229.
Given in 1230 before Berengaria's death in December 1230. She was subsequently buried at the abbey.
The charter was affixed with a seal, now lost.
Endorsed: in a 13th-century hand; in a modern hand ‘nº. 45, 46, 47, 47, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54’.
